The K Street Decorative Lighting Project pays homage to the iconic Marquis lighting of the K Street Theater District, bringing a sense of play and creativity back to this once-vibrant commercial corridor.
This initiative aims to boost economic development along the K Street TOD corridor in Downtown Sacramento. The project faced several challenges, including the need to retrofit and specify lighting solutions along the Sacramento Region Transit (SacRT) Light Rail line using city and SacRT-owned infrastructure.
The historically bustling K Street corridor, now home to a variety of small businesses and restaurants, was the focus of this safety project. Integrating decorative elements and increasing the budget from $300K to $500K were crucial steps in developing impactful and intentional lighting solutions despite competing public sector priorities.
