The Jersey Bungalow reminds us that a moderate renovation with impressive results is achievable when we marry design with an ethics of care.
The Jersey Bungalow features a sustainable approach to design that respects and harnesses the inherent nature and beauty of the salvageable. It beckons us to take a step back, respect the history of space, and simply reinterpret that space through the lenses of color, mood, and with a reflection of self. Therefore, throughout the project we strove to manipulate the current beauty of the interior with minimal waste, heightening the original beauty and history of place.
As with many small space renovations, physical construction may be a limiting factor in achieving a particular final vision. However, this project proves to show that by widening openings, reflecting light into space, creating movement through sightlines, and adding dimension and personality with color can provide affects as desirable and ambitious as a complete remodel with minimal waste and disruption to toxins that are often the byproduct of construction.
Natural and sustainable materials, products, paint, and methods were utilized in this project to minimize waste and create a healthy interior space. By unleashing the beauty of what, at first glance, lacked a cohesive aesthetic and sense of mood, the history of place was revitalized. Welcome to the new chapter.
