Solstice Park in Alphabet City, NYC is the collaborative vision of four students from Architecture, Interior Design, and Lighting Design.
Home to an under utilized park, Solstice park is the amalgamation of ephemerality, community need and cultural tradition.
Located adjacent to Franklin D. Roosevelt Public School, the newly imagined site incorporates a skate park within its existing footprint to strengthen the longstanding skateboard culture in the area; a greenhouse that acts both as an ecological learning facility and sensorial escape from the city grit; and a re-imagined library and community hub within a pre exisiting building serving the local community needs for enhanced educational opportunities and community space.
